With a vibrant career spanning more than three decades, Cynthia McDaniel MSN RN, CEO and founder of NurseLearn, has dedicated her life to understanding every facet of community-based care (CBC). Starting her career as a CBC nurse, Cynthia quickly recognized the unique challenges and rewards of working in community-based care. With expertise spanning from care management for older adults to clinical operations within assisted living communities and home health agencies, her various managerial, consulting, and educational roles grew her committment to enhancing the community-based care sector. This journey is a testament to her unwavering advocacy, dedication, and passion for community care. 

A proud recipient of a Master of Science in Nursing from Gonzaga University and fellow of the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau/John A. Hartford Foundation Geriatric Nursing Leadership Academy, Cynthia’s passion for elder care grew just as much inside the classroom as it did outside. 

Cynthia’s impact reverberates throughout Oregon and beyond, and her long list of achievements has continuously shaped the community-based care landscape into what it is today.  

A Community-Based Care Leader in Oregon

Cynthia led the development and implementation of a CBC nursing program for the State of Oregon. As a consultant in various corners of Oregon, she conducted research describing residents in Oregon’s assisted living facilties. As faculty and project lead at Central Oregon Community College, she helped to develop a hybrid distance nursing program. At Oregon Health & Science University she led the RNBS population-based nursing course team. She authored over 50 online courses related to community-based care and consulted as a lead nurse planner for multiple online education companies. Cynthia’s impact reverberates throughout Oregon and beyond, and her long list of achievements has continuously shaped the community-based care landscape into what it is today.  

Not just a leader, but a pioneer, Cynthia has been at the forefront of RN delegation in community settings, contributing to regulation development and training. Her involvement underscores her influence in shaping policies that uphold the standards of nursing practice.⁠
